DURHAM, N.C. - GoDuke.com sat down with freshman linebacker August Campbell on Tuesday to talk about what brought him to the U.S. from the Bahamas and which friend from home plays in the NFL.
GoDuke.com: Why Did You Choose Duke?
August Campbell: I would just say it was the academics and I liked the chance to help build a program. It felt like the right place for me and my family.
GD: Any Brothers or Sisters?
AC: Six sisters and two brothers. I am the second youngest actually, all of my sisters are older.
GD: What number did you wear in high school?
AC: No. 42 ... It was given to me in high school but 52 is fine with me now.
GD: What sport would you play besides football?
AC: It would definitely be baseball. I actually came to the U.S. from the Bahamas to play baseball. I was a catcher and was a really good defensive player behind the plate.
GD: What was your favorite NFL team and player growing up?
AC: My favorite player was Ray Lewis and my favorite team would be the Chiefs because my friend from the Bahamas Devard Darling is a wide receiver for them.
GD: What websites do you visit most?
AC: Facebook and my Duke email.
GD: What do you like to do outside of football?
AC: Probably just chill or go see a movie. I like to play pool.
GD: Who is your roommate this year?
AC: Justin Foxx.
GD: After football what job would you like to have?
AC: I like insurance.
