Voted the ACC Freshman of the Year, Wenger started all 21 games for the Blue Devils at center back. He anchored the Duke backline to seven shutouts and chipped in four goals and three assists to rank third on the team in scoring with 11 points. The ACC earned six spots overall on the All-Freshman First Team and seven rookies overall from the conference were recognized.
Wenger also was tabbed as an All-ACC first team selection, becoming the first Duke rookie to earn first team accolades since Ali Curtis did so in 1997. He was the third Blue Devil to earn the Freshman of the Year award. Overall on the year, the native of Lititz, Pa., led the team in minutes played with 1,896, ranked third in scoring and tallied two game-winning scores, including the deciding goal against Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Duke finished the season with a 14-7-0 overall record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils finished the year ranked 12th in both the NSCAA and SoccerTimes.com final national rankings.
