Men's Soccer to Host Winthrop in NCAA First Round

DURHAM, N.C.-For the 23rd time overall and for the sixth consecutive year, the Duke University men's soccer team earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament field announced on ESPN News this evening. The Blue Devils will host Winthrop in the first round on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium.
Tickets to the game are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Fans can purchase tickets on the day of the game or early by calling (919) 681-2583 or visiting www.GoDuke.com.
Duke heads into the NCAA Tournament with a 12-6 overall record, while Winthrop comes to Durham with an 11-5-4 mark. The Eagles captured the Big South Conference Tournament title to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This is the fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Winthrop.
The Blue Devils and Eagles have met five previous times, with the most recent coming in 1987 at the Wolfpack Classic. Duke is 5-0 overall against Winthrop, outscoring the Eagles 15-2 in those games.
The winner of the game between Duke and Winthrop will advance to the second round to play 14th-seed Michigan State on Nov. 22 at 1 p.m., in East Lansing, Mich.
