Duke Wins Back-to-Back GamesDuke's win over Maryland marks the first time the Blue Devils have won back-to-back conference games since 1994 when they defeated Clemson (19-13) and Wake Forest (51-26).
Rushing Defense Posts Top PerformanceThe Duke defense held Maryland to 67 rushing yards on 31 carries, the lowest total by a Blue Devil opponent this season. The previous low was 70 yards by N.C. Central. Entering the game, the Terps were averaging 100.7 rushing yards per contest.
300-Yard GameSenior quarterback
Thaddeus Lewis went over 300 yards for the third consecutive game and fourth time this season. He ended the game with 371 yards on 30-of-43 (.698) passing and two touchdowns. The four 300-yard games are tied for second most in a single season in school history. He now has eight career 300-yard games, tying him for third all-time.
Lewis Extends Touchdown RecordLewis threw two touchdown passes to extend his school record for career TD tosses to 61. He has now thrown 14 touchdown passes this season, tying him for 10th on Duke's single season list. The two touchdowns give Lewis 18 career multi-touchdown passing games.
Lewis Moves Up ACC ListsLewis's numbers on Saturday helped him move up the ACC career records list. His 371 yards moved him up three spots into 10th all-time with 8,707 yards. His 385 yards of total offense have him ranked 13th with 8,624 yards.
Interception Streak EndsLewis threw his first interception in four games, ending his streak of 130 straight passes without an interception. His last interception prior to the Maryland game came on the last play of the Kansas contest.
Lewis Breaks Duke Record For Career Offensive PlaysWith 57 (14 rushing attempts & 43 passing attempts) total offensive plays against Maryland, senior quarterback
Thaddeus Lewis became Duke's all-time leader with 1,634 career plays, passing the previous mark of 1,612 (243 rushes & 1,369 passes) held by Spence Fischer (1992-95).
Varner Catches Fifth Touchdown PassSophomore wide receiver
Donovan Varner caught his team-leading fifth touchdown pass of the year on a 24-yard pass from Lewis. Varner now has six career touchdown receptions. Varner was tied for third in the ACC in touchdown receptions entering the game. He has caught a touchdown pass in four of the seven games on the year.
Parker Records Second TouchdownFor the second straight game, junior
Danny Parker caught a touchdown pass. Parker gave Duke a 17-6 lead on a one-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. He has caught a TD pass in each of the past two games and now has seven career receptions.
Vernon Goes Over 100True freshman
Conner Vernon became the first freshman in school history with two 100-yard receiving games. Vernon recorded five catches for 102 yards against Maryland and also had 128 yards on four grabs against Virginia Tech.
Two 100-Yard ReceiversThe Blue Devils had two 100-yard receivers for the 12th time in school history. Vernon had 102 yards and Varner finished with 120 yards on eight catches. The 100-yard performances were the second of the season for both players. The last time Duke had two 100-yard receivers was against Clemson in 2005 with
Eron Riley (4-130) and
Ben Patrick (10-100).
Vernon Moves Up Freshman Records ListsVernon continued his climb up Duke's freshman records list. His five catches move him into third on the freshman list with 31 receptions. His 102 yards give him 459 yards to rank third.
Kelly Notches Career HighJunior
Austin Kelly caught a career-high nine passes for 67 yards. Kelly's previous career best was seven catches against Richmond. Kelly has caught at least five passes in five straight games and six of the seven games overall on the year.
Four WRs With 25+ ReceptionsFor the first time in school history, Duke has four wide receivers with 25 or more pass receptions in a single season.

Rey Gets Key InterceptionWith under five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, senior linebacker
Vincent Rey came up with his first interception of the season and second of his career.
Thornton Has Big GameJunior linebacker
Damian Thornton recorded his top career game with eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. Thornton had just 32 career tackles and two career tackles for loss entering the game. It was his first career sack.
Forcing TurnoversThe Blue Devils caused two turnovers, the third time this season they have forced multiple turnovers. In the last two games, Duke has caused six turnovers. Against Maryland the Blue Devils had one interception and a fumble recovery on a punt return. In the last two games, Duke's punt coverage unit has recovered three fumbles with one resulting in a touchdown. On the season the punt coverage unit has recovered four fumbles, scoring touchdowns on two of them.
Defense Posts Six Tackles For LossThe Duke defense recorded six tackles for loss, the fourth straight game they have posted at least six stops behind the line of scrimmage. The
Snyderwine Makes Sixth Straight Field Goal AttemptSince missing his first field goal attempt of the season, junior kicker
Will Snyderwine has since made his last six field goal attempts. He kicked a 35-yarder in the second quarter to extend Duke's lead to 10-6.
Mike McGee HonoredIn between the first and second quarters, former Duke gridiron standout Mike McGee was honored on the field to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his winning the Outland Trophy as the nation's top interior lineman. A first team All-America pick and the ACC Player of the Year selection in 1959, McGee later served as Duke's head football coach from 1971-78.
