DURHAM, N.C. ? GoDuke.com recently sat down with women's lacrosse midfielder Allie Johnson for her senior profile. Johnson, a native of Annapolis, Md., discusses her post-graduation plans, her favorite food, the favorite memory of her college career, plus much more.
GoDuke.com: What is your nickname?
Allie Johnson: Allie Bird or Birdie.
GD: What is your favorite movie?
AJ: Pride and Prejudice.
GD: What's the last non-school related book you read?
AJ: The Shack by William Young.
GD: What's your best non-athletic talent?
AJ: I can contort my mouth into a straight diagonal line.
GD: What's your favorite food?
AJ: Reese's Peanut Butter Ice Cream.
GD: What are you planning on doing after graduation?
AJ: Traveling to Europe with some friends, moving to Richmond, Va., and applying to law school.
GD: Think 10 years down the road, what will you be doing?
AJ: Raising my (eventually five) kids.
GD: Who's had the most impact on your athletic career and why?
AJ: My Dad has definitely had the most impact on my athletic career. He's my biggest fan, and is always encouraging and believing in me. He has always been there for me. He's my sounding board and I go to him to vent, analyze a game, strategize or just tell him about how lacrosse is going.
GD: What's your favorite memory to date of your college career?
AJ: Winning the ACC Championship my freshman year.
GD: What would the perfect end to your athletic career look like?
AJ: Winning a National Championship.
GD: Being a few years removed from high school, what pops into your head when you think back to your high school career?
AJ: My most vivid high school lacrosse memory was winning the state championship my junior year. We came back from a seven-goal deficit at halftime and I scored the goal that sent us into overtime.
GD: What's your favorite TV show?
AJ: Friends.
GD: What's your favorite part of practice and why?
AJ: When we split up to play a competitive inner squad dodge ball game to warm up because the blue team always dominates the white team.
GD: What's the best advice you've ever received?
AJ: “Just be free.” -- Mom
GD: What is your advice to this year's freshmen on your team?
AJ: Enjoy the game, enjoy each other and live in the moment because it goes way too fast.
