Duke Places Three On Academic All-District III At-Large Team

DURHAM, N.C. ? Duke University placed three student-athletes on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Men's At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Sophomore lacrosse player Max Quinzani and junior fencer Peter Truszkowski were named to the Academic All-District III First Team, while senior tennis player David Goulet earned a spot on the Second Team. All three Blue Devils boast grade point averages over 3.60 and appeared in the 2008 NCAA Tournaments for their respective sports.
A two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, Truszkowski has maintained a 3.70 GPA as a Biology major and concluded his junior campaign by taking eighth place at the NCAA Saber Championships. A native of Northfield, Ill., Truszkowski picked up his second All-America citation at the event after putting together a 58-11 overall record during the regular season.
Quinzani, meanwhile, owns a 3.62 GPA in his first two years as a Blue Devil after earning a spot on the ACC All-Academic Lacrosse Team and the ACC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman. An attacker on Duke's 2008 ACC Champion lacrosse team, the Duxbury, Mass., native leads Duke in shot percentage and will look to build on his 59 goals this Saturday when the top-seeded Blue Devils face Johns Hopkins in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.
Goulet was also an All-ACC Academic selection in tennis last season and finished his collegiate career with a 3.65 GPA as an Economics major. A native of Longueuil, Quebec, Goulet was invited to the NCAA Tournament as a singles participant after serving as Duke's No. 1 and No. 2 singles playing throughout the season. He concluded his senior campaign with an overall singles record of 18-12 and a 7-4 mark in the ACC while also forming Duke's top doubles tandem alongside Christopher Price.
