DURHAM, N.C. ? GoDuke.com recently sat down with midfielder Pavelid Castaneda for his senior profile. Castaneda, a native of Babylon, N.Y., discusses the best advice he has ever received, his dream job, his favorite memory from his collegiate career, plus much more.
GoDuke.com: If you could go on tour with any musician or group who would it be and why?
Pavelid Castaneda: Lionel Richie because he sings my favorite song, "I Call It Love."
GD: What is your dream job?
PC: Playing Center Back for Boca Juniors.
GD: What magazine cover would you most like to be featured on?
PC: Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Issue.
GD: What is playing on your iPod right now?
PC: I actually lost mine about a year ago and haven't replaced it, but if I had one it would be playing “I'm so paid" by Akon featuring Lil Wayne.
GD: What are your pregame rituals?
PC: Mike Grella and I like to go out on the field before the game and warm-up by ripping passes as hard as we can at each other. We do that for about 5-10 minutes, along with five minutes of juggling and I'm pretty much ready to go.
GD: Who is the best athlete you have every played with or against in your soccer career?
PC: Mike Grella ? hands down. He is the only one that can very rarely get past me, making him the sole member of that list.
GD: What is one thing people don't know about you?
PC: I play the harp. No, seriously.
GD: What's the best advice you've ever received?
PC: If you fail to prepare, be prepared to fail.
GD: What is your favorite place to hang out at Duke/Durham?
PC: Mostly my room. Unless it's my birthday (Halloween), on which I can be found near/around George's.
GD: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
PC: Hopefully playing soccer somewhere and married to a wife who brings home big bucks.
GD: If you could be any superhero, who would it be and why?
PC: Superman. Clich? I know, but he has the best of all worlds and can fly.
GD: What is your favorite TV show?
PC: Forensic Files.
GD: What's your favorite memory to date of your college career?
PC: Beating Wake Forest in the finals of the ACC Tournament my sophomore year on a wonder goal by Mike Grella.
