DURHAM, N.C. ? Mike Grella of the Duke men's soccer team has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week.
A senior forward from Glen Cove, N.Y., Grella recently was honored as the ACC offensive player of the year by a vote of the league's head coaches.
During the regular season, Grella totaled 13 goals and 7 assists for 33 points, the top figure on his team and in the conference. He then scored one goal and assisted on the other in Duke's 4-2 ACC Tournament quarterfinal loss to Virginia last Wednesday night.
The Blue Devils now have a 10-7-2 record as they head into their first round game in the NCAA Tournament against UNC Greensboro on Friday.
