DURHAM, N.C. ? The 15th-ranked and third-seeded Duke women's soccer team will host William & Mary on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m., in a second round NCAA College Cup contest at Koskinen Stadium. Ticket prices for each of the games will be $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for students/seniors and $1.00 for kids under five.
The Blue Devils are coming off registering a 5-1 victory over Radford in the first round on Friday, which broke a three-game scoreless streak for Duke. Five different Blue Devils collected goals in the victory and the Blue Devils scored the most goals in Duke's NCAA College Cup history. Duke improved to 13-5-3 overall.
William & Mary netted a goal from junior Kim Sunada in overtime to push the Tribe past South Carolina on Friday in the first round, 3-2. The Tribe improved to 15-6-1 overall on the season.
Duke and William & Mary have played a total of 10 times in school history the Tribe leading the series, 5-4-1. The two squads last met in 2005 and featured a 1-1 tie in two-overtimes at William & Mary. Duke and William & Mary have already met once before in the NCAA College Cup in 1999 as the Tribe won, 3-1, in Newport News, Va.
The Blue Devils will play their 12th home contest on Sunday and in the previous 11 matches, Duke owns a 9-1-1 overall record. In the last two home matches for the Blue Devils, Duke has scored 11 goals. Duke owns a 4-0 record all-time in NCAA College Cup contests played in Durham, N.C.
The winner of the Duke/William & Mary match will advance to the NCAA College Cup Sweet 16 to face the winner of the West Virginia/Virginia contest. The date and site will be determined following Sunday's matches.
With her goal on Friday night, junior Elisabeth Redmond moved into seventh place on Duke's all-time points list with 67. KayAnne Gummersall notched her team-best 12th goal of the season as well on Friday, which ranks seventh on Duke's single-season charts. Her 28 points on the year is tied for seventh on the Blue Devil single season list.
The Blue Devils now own 50 goals on the season, which ranks as the fifth-best single season total in school history. Duke's 147 points on the year is tied for fourth.
