DURHAM, N.C. ? Linebacker Michael Tauiliili of the Duke football team has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week.
Tauiliili, a senior from Houston, turned in one of the best performances of his career on Sept. 27 in leading the Blue Devils to a 31-3 victory over Virginia in the ACC opener. The Duke co-captain registered 16 tackles and had a hand in three of the six turnovers forced by the defense, with a caused fumble, a fumble recovery and the fourth pass interception of his career.
Tauiliili, who has been Duke's starting middle linebacker since his freshman season, was named ACC defensive lineman of the week as well as the national defensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
