Starting Streaks
Four players have started over 20 straight games for the Blue Devils. Senior wide receiver Eron Riley earned his team-high 30th straight starting nod. Vince Oghobaase and Rob Schirmann started for the 29th straight game while junior quarterback Thaddeus Lewis has now started in 28 consecutive games. Fred Roland and Michael Tauiliili extended their start streaks to 16 straight while Clifford Harris garnered his 10th start in a row.
Riley Catches Five Passes
Senior wide receiver Eron Riley caught five passes for 20 yards against Georgia Tech. It was the third time this season that Riley has hauled in at least five passes in a game. Prior to this season he only had four games with five or more receptions in his first three seasons.
The Duke defense forced a fumble in the first quarter to give them 12 caused turnovers on the season. Coming in to the game the Blue Devils ranked tied for 13th nationally with a +5 turnover margin. Wesley Oglesby recovered the fumble in the first quarter. Leon Wright also caused a fumble in the second quarter that was recovered by the Yellow Jackets. It was the first caused fumble of Wright's career.
Oglesby Recovers Fumble
Wesley Oglesby recovered a fumble in the red zone on Georgia Tech's opening possession of the game. Oglesby now has two career fumble recoveries.
Oghobaase Records Sack
Junior defensive tackle Vince Oghobaase sacked Georgia Tech's quarterback Jaybo Shaw in the second quarter for his first sack of the season. Oghobaase now has 6.5 sacks in his career. As a team Duke has seven sacks for the year.
Akinbiyi & Tackles For Loss
Senior defensive end Greg Akinbiyi continued his success of getting into the backfield with 2.5 tackles for loss on Saturday. He now has seven tackles for loss on the season. He came into the game ranked tied for ninth in the ACC with 4.5 tackle for loss. He also tied a career high with seven tackles in the game.
Double Digit Tackles
Linebackers Michael Tauiliili reached double digits in tackles for the third straight game. He finished with 11 tackles, including two for a loss against Georgia Tech. Tauiliili entered the game as the ACC leader with 11.5 tackles per game. He now has 57 tackles in five games on the season. He has 14 career games with 10 or more tackles.
Jones Matches Career High
Senior linebacker Marcus Jones matched his career high with six tackles. He also has six tackles earlier this season against Navy.
First Career Punt Return
True freshman Donovan Varner entered the game as Duke's punt returner for the first time in his college career and had one punt return for 15 yards.
