Drummer Tallies Second Touchdown CatchRonnie Drummer caught a screen pass from
Thaddeus Lewis and took it 41 yards for his second touchdown reception of the season and third of his career. Drummer now has seven career touchdowns with four of those over 40 yards. He is averaging 47 yards per touchdown play on the season.
Rey Reaches Double FiguresSophomore linebacker
Vincent Rey posted a team-high 11 tackles against the Hurricanes, giving him four double figure tackle performances in five weeks this season. Rey entered the game ranking second in the ACC with 49 total tackles.
First Collegiate CatchesJunior fullback
Clifford Harris made his first collegiate catch in the second quarter, a 31-yard reception up the middle. Redshirt freshman
Sheldon Bell, who made his first career start in the game, also tallied his first collegiate catch on the drive with a four-yard grab.
Lewis Moves in to Top-10 in Career Passing YardsSophomore quarterback
Thaddeus Lewis passed for 241 yards against Miami to move in to the top-10 on the Duke career passing yards list. He passed Billy Ray for 10th on the all-time list with 3,334 career yards and is now 176 yards shy of Mike Dunn for ninth all-time.
Lewis First Quarterback in Duke History With 10 or More Touchdowns in First Two Seasons
Thaddeus Lewis became the first quarterback in Duke history to throw 10 or more touchdown passes in each of his first two seasons. He threw 11 touchdown passes last year as a freshman and already has 11 touchdown passes through five games in his sophomore season.
Lewis Connects With Riley for Fifth Score of YearEron Riley hauled in a 31-yard touchdown reception from
Thaddeus Lewis in the fourth quarter for his fifth touchdown reception of the season. It followed a four touchdown performance a week ago at Navy. Riley now has 10 career receiving touchdowns, tying him for ninth on the Duke all-time list with Wes Chesson and Stan Crisson.
Bailey Sacks WrightSenior rush end
Patrick Bailey recorded two sacks in the game to give him a team-high 4.5 sacks on the season. His two sacks were a career high. He entered the game with tied for sixth in the ACC in sacks per game. He now has 8.5 sacks in his four-year career.
Leon Wright Nets Two InterceptionsSophomore cornerback
Leon Wright recorded his second and third interceptions of the season on Miami's first two drives of the third quarter. His first interception of the season came at Northwestern. The two interceptions give him four career interceptions. The last Duke player to record two interceptions in a single game was
John Talley against Florida State in 2006. The last player to have two interceptions in a single game on the road was
Chris Davis who accomplished the feat at Miami in 2005.
Red Zone DefenseDuke stopped Miami in their second red zone attempt of the game with
Leon Wright's second interception of the game. Miami was 2-for-3 in the game on red zone attempts. Duke's red zone defense was ranked fourth in the ACC prior to the game, holding their opponents to 71.4-percent efficiency in the red zone. The Blue Devils have now stopped their opponents seven times in 24 attempts for a 70.8 percentage.
