With its 79-77 loss to VCU, Duke falls to 22-11 on the season after the two team's first ever meeting. The loss marks the first time since 1953 that a current member of the Colonial Athletic Conference has defeated Duke, a streak of 28 straight including 22 under coach Mike Krzyzewski. Duke falls to 39-4 against CAA teams and 22-1 under Coach K.
The loss snaps a 10 game NCAA Tournament first round win streak. Duke had appeared in nine consecutive Sweet 16's, which was the longest streak by seven years and the second-longest streak in NCAA history.
The loss was just the second this season to a non-ACC opponent. Duke finishes 14-2 vs. non-conference opponents this season.

85-28 all-time, still the fourth most wins and best winning percentage in the NCAA
68-20 under Coach K, still the most wins by a coach in tournament history
27-5 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, including 21-3 under Coach K

Sophomores Josh McRoberts and Greg Paulus both scored 20 plus points, marking the first time this season two Duke players reached 20 points in the same game and, ironically, the first time since last year's NCAA Tournament first round game when J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams each scored 28 points against Southern in the first round.
Paulus scored a career-high 25 points, hitting 8-of-18 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc, and he added a career-high tying five rebounds, three of which were offensive, four assists and three steals. It marks Paulus' fifth 20-point game of the season and his career and his third in the last four games for the Blue Devils. He reached double figures in scoring 21 times this season and now has 32 such games in his career.
McRoberts scored a career-high 22 points and added 12 rebounds, five blocks and four assists in just under 40 minutes of action. McRoberts is credited with 40 minutes but did not play a complete game. McRoberts was 7-of-14 from the field and 8-of-11 from the line for the Blue Devils. It marks the third 20 point game of the season and his career. He had 24 games scoring in double figures this season and now has 39 such games in his career. It was also his ninth game this season with double figures in rebounds and 14th of his career, and his seven double-double of the season and ninth of his career. It also marked his fifth game of the season with five or more blocks.
McRoberts game of 22 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and four assists marks just the seventh game in Duke history a player has had a double-double and added four or more blocks and assists in the same game, and first time it's happened in the NCAA Tournament. It's also the 18th time a player has had four or more points, rebounds, blocks and assists in a game and first time in the NCAA Tournament. McRoberts has four such games (four or more in those four categories), all this season, the most for any season in Duke history and second most for a career (Grant Hill had five such games in his career).
