Starting Streaks
Long snapper Casey Hales made his team-leading 42nd consecutive start. Matt Rumsey extended his starts streak to 31 straight games, earning the start at center. Junior wide receiver Eron Riley earned his 21st straight starting nod. Three players have started 20 straight games with Zach Maurides and Rob Schirmann each starting on the offensive line and Vince Oghobaase playing defensive tackle at the start. Thaddeus Lewis has now started in 19 consecutive games. Junior fullback Clifford Harris earned his first start of the season and second career start. He has played in 29 career games for the Blue Devils.
Wright Reaches 100 Career Receptions
Senior wide receiver Jomar Wright hauled in the 100th catch of his Duke career on Duke's first possession of the second period. The catch was the second of the game for Wright. He finished the game with seven receptions for 141 yards and now has 105 grabs for 1,529 yards in 36 career games.
Wright Snags Long Grab
Jomar Wright caught a 65-yard pass from Thaddeus Lewis in the fourth quarter for his longest career catch. His previous career long was a 54-yard catch last season against Miami. It was the sixth passing play of over 50 yards this season for the Blue Devils.
100-Yard Receiver
Jomar Wright finished the game with seven catches for 141 yards. It is the first time this season and third time in his career he has posted a 100-yard game.
King of Touchdowns
Sophomore Brandon King tallied his fourth touchdown reception of the season on a three-yard catch in the fourth quarter. King had four touchdowns on just seven catches this season.
Lewis Extends Touchdown Streak
Sophomore Thaddeus Lewis threw a touchdown in his 10th straight game. He has thrown a touchdown in 15 of his 20 career contests. The touchdown was the 17th of the season for Lewis which ties him for Ben Bennett in fifth on the single season list. Bennett had 17 TD tosses in 1983.
Lewis Up the Passing Charts
Sophomore Thaddeus Lewis threw for 198 yards versus the Seminoles to move into seventh place on Duke's all-time chart with 3,942 career yards. He passed D. Bryant (3.902) while Anthony Dilweb (4.557) is in sixth place.
Riley & Wright Crack Yardage Chart
With two catches for 49 yards on the night, junior Eron Riley pushed into ninth place on Duke's all-time chart for receiving yards while senior Jomar Wright used his 141-yard effort against the Seminoles to move into eighth place. Riley (1,520 career yards) and Wright (1,529) both passed Mark Militello (1,493), Brad Breedlove (1,500) and Stanley Dorsey (1,507) while Cedric Jones (1,732) sits in seventh place.
Jones Takes to the Air
Redshirt freshman punter Kevin Jones completed the first pass attempt of his brief career with a 15-yard strike to Eron Riley that converted a fake punt on fourth down and six yards to go from the Duke 27 yard line.
Davis and Respress Combine for Sack
Chris Davis and Clifford Respress combined for a loss of seven yards on a sack in the second quarter. For Davis it was the first sack of the season and he now has 2.0 sacks in his career. Respress has 2.0 sacks on the season and 3.0 sacks in his career with the Blue Devils.
Rey Recovers Fumble
Sophomore linebacker Vincent Rey fell on a loose football on the second Florida State possession of the game. It was his first fumble recovery of the season and second of his career. As a team Duke has four fumble recoveries on the year.
Second Fumble of the Game
Chris Davis forced a fumble in the fourth quarter which was recovered by Wesley Oglesby. Davis recorded his second career fumble while it marked the first career fumble recovery for Oglesby.
Career-High Tackles for Wright
Sophomore cornerback Leon Wright posted a career-high 11 tackles against the Seminoles.
Redzone Defense
Florida State had four trips to the redzone in the first half and came away with only six points. On the season Duke has stopped their opponent from scoring nine times in 39 attempts for a 76.9 percentage.
Next Game
Duke will play the first of two straight home games next Saturday, Nov. 3 when they host Clemson for a noon kickoff.
