PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The 2007 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships presented by Fila will continue on Tuesday with qualifying action at the Riviera Tennis Club, as one Blue Devil doubles tandem and four singles players are set for competition.
The 35th-ranked duo of sophomore Elizabeth Plotkin and freshman Ellah Nze are set take on Kelly and Yvette Hyndman of Georgia at 9 a.m. PT (12 p.m. ET) on Tuesday. If the pair was to advance, second round action will begin at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET) on Wednesday, with third round matches set for later that day.
In singles action, Plotkin, who ranks 102nd in the nation, will square off against Cristina Visico of California at 10:30 a.m. PT (1:30 p.m. ET). Should Plotkin come away victorious, second round action begins at 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET).
In matches beginning at 12:15 p.m. PT (3:15 p.m. ET), Nze will face Kirsten Flower of Georgia Tech, while 72nd-ranked junior Melissa Mang takes on Paula Mesterova of Loyola (Md.) and freshman Reka Zsilinszka goes up against Yvette Hyndman of Georgia. Second round matches will begin at 3:45 p.m. PT (6:45 p.m. ET). All third round singles contests are set for Wednesday.
Four doubles teams and eight singles players will advance to the All-American main draw, which will take place on Oct. 4-7.
The duo of Mang and senior Tory Zawacki won the doubles championship at the 2007 ITA National Summer Championships in August, earning a wild card spot in the main draw. The Blue Devil pair ranks 22nd in the national preseason listings.
