Five Duke men's lacrosse players have been named to the preseason Watch List for the 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy, an award presently annually to the top player in the nation.
Representing Duke on the list are junior attackman Matt Danowski, sophomore attackman Zack Greer, junior defenseman Tony McDevitt, junior long stick midfielder Nick O'Hara and senior midfielder Matt Zash. Danowski was one of five finalists for last year's award which went to Kyle Harrison of Johns Hopkins.

The Tewaaraton Award Foundation, in conjunction with the University Club of Washington, D.C., formally established the "Tewaaraton Trophy" on August 29, 2000. Today, the Tewaaraton Trophy is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States. The Foundation honors lacrosse, the original and oldest American sport, through the Tewaaraton name and by promoting the game through the award.
Previous winners of the award are Hofstra's Doug Shanahan (2001), Syracuse's Michael Powell (2002 & 2004), Virginia's Chris Rotelli (2003) and Harrison.
