Game captains for the Blue Devils vs. Georgia Tech were junior C Matt Rumsey, junior FS Chris Davis, senior CB Deonto McCormick, junior P Alex Feinberg, senior OG Danny Bowling and senior LB Alex Williams.
Duke won the opening coin toss and elected to defer its decision until the second half ... Georgia Tech then elected to receive the while defending the North goal.
Senior CB John Talley registered his seventh interception of the year and the 18th of his career ... The seven picks rank tied for second on Duke's single-season chart, trailing on George Skipworth's nine interceptions in 1949 ... Jerry Barger (1954) and Rich Searl (1970) also posted seven interceptions in a campaign ... The 18 career interceptions push Talley into second place by himself on the ACC's all-time chart, trailing only North Carolina's Dre Bly (20; 1996-98) ... Talley returned the interception 20 yards, pushing his career total to 395 - tops in ACC history.
Three of John Talley's 18 career interceptions have come against Georgia Tech ... Talley also has three picks versus both Florida State and Virginia Tech.
Talley entered the Georgia Tech contest tied with Utah's Eric Weddle for the NCAA lead for career interceptions among active players ... In addition, Talley began play this week as the nation's active leader with 375 interception return yards.
Sophomore WR Eron Riley hauled in his team-leading third touchdown pass of the season with a 47-yard effort from Thaddeus Lewis in the third quarter ... Riley now has five career scoring catches covering nine, 19, 41, 47 and 66 yards ... Riley finished the contest with three catches for 99 yards.
Junior FB Tielor Robinson scored his first touchdown as a Blue Devil, hauling in a 13-yard pass from QB Thaddeus Lewis in the second quarter ... The touchdown reception marks the third of Robinson's career as the Greenwich, Conn., native scored twice through the air in 2004 at Army ... Robinson finished with a season-high four receptions for 42 yards.
Sophomore WR Raphael Chestnut caught a career-high eight passes for 81 yards on the day ... His previous top day was a seven-catch, 73-yard outing against Richmond in the 2006 season-opener.
Senior LB Jeramy Edwards finished with six tackles on the day, including a pair of tackles for loss.
Junior DE Patrick Bailey had five tackles on the afternoon, including one tackle for loss ... Bailey entered the week ranking sixth in the ACC with 11.5 tackles for loss.
Sophomore SS Adrian Aye-Darko recorded the first interception of his career in the third quarter.
Junior OT Garrett Mason earned the first starting assignment of his career, replacing sophomore Cameron Goldberg (injury) at left tackle ... Goldberg had started the last 11 games dating back to the 2005 season, and it marks the first time this season that Duke's offensive line did not start Goldberg, LG Zach Maurides, C Matt Rumsey, RG Rob Schirmann and RT Fred Roland
Sophomore RB Re'quan Boyette started for the second time this season (Wake Forest), replacing junior Justin Boyle ... Boyle, Duke's leading rusher with 358 yards through 10 games, suffered a season-ending knee injury last week at Boston College ... Boyette rushed eight times for 17 yards against the Yellow Jackets.
Freshman NG Ayanga Okpokowuruk earned his third start of the year, replacing senior Eli Nichols.
Duke head coach Ted Roof is a 1987 graduate of Georgia Tech ... A former All-ACC linebacker as a Yellow Jacket, Roof captained the 1985 Tech squad to a 9-2-1 season including a win over Michigan State in the All American Bowl ... He finished his career with 417 tackles and was inducted into the Georgia Tech Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998.
