DURHAM, N.C. - David McClure came off the bench to post 11 points, nine rebounds and seven steals as 11th-ranked Duke defeated UNC Greensboro, 75-48, on Thursday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils have now won 43 consecutive games at home against non-conference opponents ? the third-longest active streak in the country behind
The win also marked the first time since 1940-41 and just the third time since the elimination of the jump ball after made baskets (1937-38) that Duke has held its first three opponents under 50 points.
Duke never trailed in the contest, scoring the first nine points of the game with two foul shots from Lance Thomas, a layup and dunk by Josh McRoberts and a three-point basket from DeMarcus Nelson. The Spartans closed to within 14-8, but McClure scored eight points in a 13-2 run as Duke claimed a 27-10 advantage on Gerald Henderson's jumper with 7:59 remaining in the first half. The Blue Devils led by a 45-20 count at intermission after making 18-of-32 (.563) field goal attempts.
Brian Zoubek chipped in 17 points and seven boards and McRoberts logged six points, seven assists and five blocked shots. McRoberts made all three of his field goal attempts on the evening and is now shooting 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the floor on the season. Henderson and Nelson also reached double figures in the scoring column with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
McRoberts also became just the fourth Blue Devil, joining Mike Gminski, Danny Ferry and Shane Battier, to record at least five assists and blocks in the same game.
The Duke defense limited the Spartans to just 31.6 percent shooting from the field while forcing 24 turnovers.
UNC Greensboro was paced by Kyle Hines' 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Ricky Hickman chipped in 12 points and a pair of steals.
