Head Coach Ted Roof
First off, I'd like to thank our fans. I though they were fantastic and they really made a big difference for our football team. I hope they'll stay behind us and continue to support us and come out for our guys.
We were down 17-0 at halftime. We talked about playing on our toes and playing defensivesly, taking our shot and attacking offensively. Despite the five turnovers, we still had a chance to win the football game against a very talented and well-coached Miami football team.
Duke Linebacker Codey Lowe:
On the mood in the locker room:
Obviously, it's depressing. At the same time, I think we proved that we can play with the best teams in the ACC. In a way, it was a confidence booster. It gave a lot of gives an insight as to how good we can be. Regardless, it still hurts to lose. We just have to pick it up next week an d come after it.
On holding Miami to only one field goal and one third-down conversion in the second half:
At halftime we came in and made the corrections that we needed to make. We just looked at each other and said, “Guys, we've been here before. We can do this, and we can make things happen.”
On the enthusiasm at the end of the game:
Those guys who may not be starters have just been absolutely amazing. Especially in the last few minutes of the game, they're just as excited as we are playing. Having that back you and having those guys support you makes you want to make a big play.”
Wide Receiver Jomar Wright
On whether the team dynamic is changing as they become more seasonsed as a team:
Definitely. This being the middle part of our season, everybody feels more comfortable with each other and we're not so young anymore, so we can go out and execute what the coach is calling for us to do.
Head Coach Larry Coker
On today's win:
“We had the game under control but you have to give Duke credit. They fought back hard and gave themselves a chance to win.”
On his concerns about finding the right emotional balance in today's game:
“I was very worried about that because there is a fine balance there. You have to teach the proper enthusiasm. I was concerned about our team going into a shell; just afraid to show emotion. I think we have done a good job for the most part of celebrating as a team. For the most part we did celebrate together today.”
On what contributed to not being able to run the ball:
“I think you'll see that we missed some things but also, a lot of people haven't been able to run the ball against Duke. Alabama couldn'trun the ball against them very well. They put a lot of people in gaps and caught us in some bad plays. They give you a lot of different looks, they had everybody blocked and they can tackle.”
