CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Freshman Amanda Granson and the Duke doubles team of sophomores Jessi Robinson and Melissa Mang fell in quarterfinal action at the ITA Mideast Regionals on Sunday.
Granson was defeated by Sanaz Marand of North Carolina in straight sets (6-3, 6-1). The freshman posted two wins on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinal match, defeating Vicki Jones of Tennessee (6-2, 6-2) and 63rd-ranked Caitlin Collins of North Carolina (6-2, 6-3). Granson also recorded a victory in first-round action, defeating Miranda Gutierrez of USC (6-2, 6-0).
In doubles action, 46th-ranked Robinson and Mang suffered an 8-3 loss to Kentucky's Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk in a quarterfinal match. The two previously defeated Jessica Giuggoili and Caroline Winebrennar of Kentucky, 8-6, and Robyn White and Lauren Imre of Louisville, 8-5 in regional play.
Next up for the Duke women's tennis team will be the ITA National Indoors, held on Nov. 2 in Columbus, Ohio.
