
Dedication Ceremony For The Karcher-Ingram Golf Center Set For Friday

DURHAM, N.C.- The brand new Karcher-Ingram Golf Center, which is already one of the top collegiate golf facilities in the nation, will be officially dedicated on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7:00 p.m., on the campus of Duke University.
At a cost of over $3.0 million, the two-story, 5,500 square foot Karcher-Ingram Golf Center was completed in the fall of 2005. Located adjacent to the Washington Duke Inn and the nationally ranked Duke University Golf Club, the Karcher-Ingram Golf Center houses coaches' offices, men's and women's team locker rooms, a trophy room, lounge, a club repair room, a student-athlete study area and an indoor training and practice facility.
The Duke golf teams also have a new $1.0 million outdoor practice facility which includes putting and chipping greens, a full-swing and short-game area including sand and grass bunkers, a practice fairway bunker and target greens.
Headlining the Karcher-Ingram Golf Center generous supporters are Jack, Lois, and John Karcher as well as David and Sarah Lebrun Ingram. A few of the former Duke golfers coming back to Durham for the dedication includes Joe Ogilvie, Mike Castelforte, Matt Krauss, Bill Mallon, Dennis Satyshur, John Karcher, David Ingram, Leigh Anne Hardin, Kristina (Engstrom) Tucker and Sarah (Lebrun) Ingram.
John Karcher was a four-year letterman for the Blue Devils from 1987-90, while earning second team All-America honors in 1990. He was a four-time team MVP at Duke and his third-place finish with a four-under-par 284 score at Innisbrook Resort in Tarpon Spring, Fla., in 1990 was the highest finish for a Duke men's golfer in the NCAA Championship.
A four-year letterman from 1982-85, David Ingram registered a tied for 14th finish at the 1984 ACC Championships at Pinehurst and won the Clifford Perry Award for academic excellence and leadership in 1985 as a senior.
Sarah Ingram, a member of the Duke Sports Hall of Fame, was a four-year letterwinner from 1985-88. She was named All-America on two occasions including first team honors in 1987 and honorable mention accolades in 1988. Ingram was an accomplished amateur golfer as well winning the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship three times and played on the 1992, ?94 and ?96 Curtis Cup teams.
Architect for the Karcher-Ingram Golf Center was Rabun Hogan Ota Rasche Architects of Atlanta, Ga. Contractors for the golf center were J.W. Grand, Inc. of Raleigh, N.C. and Jackson Golf, Inc., of South Carolina. Bumper 2 Bumper Media provided design assistance throughout the golf center.
