Three Blue Devils Claim South Region All-America Honors

The 32-member IWLCA South Region All-America teams were recently announced with Duke's Meghan Miller and Meghan Walters earning first team honors. Sophomore Katie Chrest claimed second team recognition after leading the Blue Devils in goals (43) and points (54) in 2004.

Miller, who was also a first team all-region pick last year, finished the season ranked fifth in the ACC in caused turnovers (1.32 ctpg.). The Severna Park, Md., native also led the Blue Devils with 48 ground balls, while adding 15 goals and 29 draw controls.

Walters, a senior defender, led the conference in draw controls (54) and finished second with 31 caused turnovers. She also set career-highs in goals (19), assists (6) and points (25). Walters was a second team South Region All-America in 2000 and 2001.

For the second straight year, Chrest was named to the all-region second team. The Hampstead, Md., native ranked in the top five of the ACC in goals (43, fifth), points (54, fourth), game-winning goals (three, t-fifth) and shots (116, third).
