The fourth-seeded and 11th-ranked Duke women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament for the third straight year and will next battle top-seeded and top-ranked North Carolina on Friday at 7:30 p.m., at the SAS Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C.
The winner of the contest will advance to the ACC Championship on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., versus the winner of the Virginia/Clemson contest.

Duke is ranked 11th in the latest Soccer Buzz, 15th in the SoccerTimes.com, 17th in the NSCAA and 20th in the Soccer America polls. North Carolina is ranked No. 1 in all polls.

North Carolina leads the series 26-1-1. Overall, Duke is 0-10 versus UNC in Durham, N.C., 1-11-1 vs. UNC in Chapel Hill, N.C. and 0-5 in neutral sites.
Duke In the ACC Tournament...
Duke owns an all-time record of 10-16-2 in the ACC Tournament over the 17 years. The Blue Devils and Tar Heels have faced off nine times over the years in ACC Championship action with UNC owning a 9-0 record against Duke. The Tar Heels have outscored Duke 39-6 in ACC Tournament play. It marks the fifth time Duke/UNC have met in the semifinals. Overall, Duke has advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament 10 times and owns a 4-6 record in the semifinals.
Senior Casey McCluskey has been named to the All-Tournament team each of the past two years.

Earlier this season, North Carolina defeated Duke, 2-1, and received one point towards the Carlyle Cup, which is a year-long competition between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels. If Duke were to win on Friday, the Blue Devils would earn half a point back with the victory. The competition is sponsored by Carlyle & Co., based out of Greensboro, N.C.
Carolyn Ford & Casey McCluskey Named Academic All-America... Duke University women's soccer co-captains Carolyn Ford and Casey McCluskey have been named to the 2004 Academic All-District III University Division Women's Soccer Team, which was selected by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA).
Ford was named to the first team and will now move on to the national ballot to be selected for Academic All-America, while McCluskey earned second team accolades.
A product of Bethesda, Md., Ford has started each of the 19 games so far this season on the defensive end for the 11th-ranked Blue Devils. The junior center back has scored two goals and assisted on nine others for 13 total points. Ford's nine assists already ranks tied for fourth on the Duke single-season record charts. A Psychology major at Duke, Ford owns a 3.411 grade-point-average.
McCluskey, the 2004 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, earned second team honors after collecting 16 goals and six assists for 38 points so far this season. A senior native of Springfield, Va., McCluskey leads the ACC with nine game-winning goals and ranks near the top in the nation in goals and points per game. She owns 40 career tallies and 93 points in her four years at Duke, which each rank second all-time. McCluskey is a Sociology major and owns a 3.293 grade-point-average.
The Record Book...
Duke has posted a number of school records during the season-- tied the school record with eight straight wins, had a seven straight shutouts, tied a school-record with nine goals in a game (VT), had 65 assists, had a seven goals in one half (Davidson), had 12 assists in one game (VT), had 30 points in one game (VT) and Rebecca Moros tied an ACC record with four assists against Virginia Tech.
