- Duke and Virginia have now played 56 times, with the Cavaliers holding a 29-27 series advantage. In Durham, Duke still leads the series 14-11.
- Duke entered today's game leading the ACC with 16 takeaways. Counting today's one fumble recovery, the Blue Devils have gained seven fumbles and 10 interceptions on the season.
- Senior S Alex Green was credited with a sack, forced fumble and a fumble recovery on the same play in the first quarter this afternoon. It was his second forced fumble of the 2004 season.
- Sophomore WR Deon Adams completed the first pass of his career, a 20-yarder to freshman TB Ronnie Drummer in Duke's opening quarter scoring drive. Later in the second quarter, he completed a career-long 31-yarder to Ronnie Elliott.
- Freshman WR Corey Thompson caught his first career touchdown today, a four-yarder from sophomore QB Mike Schneider in the first quarter.
- Schneider was 18-of-30 for a season-best 191 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. It was the third-highest yardage output for Schneider while at Duke. His career high was a 270-yard game at Maryland in 2003. Today marked the third time in Schneider's career he threw for two touchdowns (others were vs. Rice in 2003 and vs. The Citadel in 2004).
- Sophomore TE Ben Patrick established career highs with five catches for 97 yards this afternoon.
- Senior TE Calen Powell made his second reception of 2004 in the third quarter, a three-yard scoring strike from Mike Schneider. His first reception this year was also a two-yard TD grab in the third quarter at Connecticut.
- Duke's passing game was effective today, gaining a season-best 242 yards vs the Cavaliers. It was the most passing yards for the Blue Devils since throwing for 267 vs. Wake Forest on Oct. 18, 2003 in Wallace Wade Stadium.
- Duke also spread the ball around in its passing game today as 11 different Blue Devils caught passes today vs. Virginia (seven players had one each).
- In its last two games at Wallace Wade Stadium, Duke has converted on 17 of 30 third down attempts. Against The Citadel on Oct. 2, Duke was 10-of-16 (.625) on third down conversions and today, it was 7-of-14 (.500).
- Junior TB Cedric Dargan had the second-highest rushing output of his career today with 108 yards on a career-best 21 carries for a 5.1 average. Dargan's career high came at Navy to open the 2004 season (115 yards on 20 carries). It was Dargan's second 100-yard game of his career and the 196th in the history of Duke football (98th time in a home game).
- Duke returns to action on Oct. 30 at Wake Forest. The game, which will be televised by JP Sports, will kick off at noon.
