Three Duke University women's lacrosse players were named to the 2003 IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America teams on Tuesday. Senior Kate Kaiser received first team accolades while junior Meghan Miller and senior Lauren Gallagher were second and third team selections.
Kaiser, also an All-ACC and first team All-South Region pick, collected first team All-America honors for the third time in her career, becoming the first Duke women's lacrosse player to accomplish that feat. The senior midfielder ranked among the Blue Devils team leaders in goals (38), points (44), caused turnovers (37), ground balls (49) and draw controls (29). The Cockeysville, Md., native finished her career ranked second all-time at Duke with 154 goals and third in career points with 174.
Miller earned second team All-America honors for the first time in her career. She displayed her versatility throughout the season collecting 11 goals and five assists, while leading the team in caused turnovers (42) and ground balls (61).
Gallagher, a three-time All-ACC and All-South Region pick, was selected to an All-America team for the third time in her career. She ranked second on the team with 51 points (37 goals and 14 assists) this season and closed her career second in the record books with 193 career points. Gallagher also joins Kaiser as the only player to earn All-America honors three times while at Duke.
