The Duke University women's lacrosse team returns home on Friday, April 11 to host 15th-ranked Notre Dame. The Blue Devils, ranked third in the latest IWLCA poll, are 10-2 on the season, while the Fighting Irish are 4-4 overall. Friday's contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. on the West Campus Turf Field due to the rains this week.
Freshman Katie Chrest continues to lead the Blue Devils offense with 28 goals, 12 assists and 40 points. Seniors Lauren Gallagher (24 goals, 10 assists), Kate Kaiser (26 goals, two assists) and Jessica Bennett (20 goals, five assists) provide balance to the team's attack.
Freshman goalie Megan Huether has been solid between the pipes for the Blue Devils, with 93 saves and a 6.42 goals against average. Assisting the young goalie is an experienced defensive group led by juniors Meghan Walters (24 caused turnovers, 40 ground balls) and Meghan Miller (27 caused turnovers, 37 ground balls). Miller also has five goals and five assists while leading the ACC in caused turnovers.
Special Note: Duke's Wednesday, April 23 contest at James Madison has been moved from a 3:00 p.m. start to a 6:00 p.m. start time.
