Matt Monfett scored four goals to lead 10th-ranked Duke to a 17-5 win over visiting VMI in men's collegiate lacrosse action on Tuesday night at Koskinen Stadium in Durham.
The Blue Devils improve to 3-1 while the Keydets fall to 0-2.
VMI jumped on top 1-0 on Leo McInerney's goal at the 13:21 mark of the first period. Duke responded with 14 straight goals including 10 in the opening quarter. In the 14-0 run, Monfett scored four goals while Dan Flannery added two goals and four assists. Monfett's goal from Matt Rewkowski at the 13:23 mark of the third period gave the Blue Devils a 14-1 advantage.
The Keydets then scored three of the game's next four goals to pull within 15-4, but Dan Doty and Joe Kennedy sandwiched goals around a Gabe McCaig tally in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin.
Kevin Brennan and Rewkowski each added three goals for the Blue Devils while McInerney scored twice for VMI.
Duke hosts eighth-ranked Loyola on Saturday at 1 p.m.
