LAS VEGAS, NEV.- Duke opened its two-game spring break trip to Las Vegas on Monday with a 7-0 victory over 18th-ranked Texas A&M (7-2) at the Frank & Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Blue Devils (13-1) opened doubles action by winning two of three matches to start off the match with a 1-0 advantage. Duke's second-ranked tandem of Amanda Johnson/Julie DeRoo downed Ashley Hedberg/Lauren Walker (8-4) at No. 1 and 21st-ranked Katie Granson/Julia Smith defeated Seva Iwinski/Nicki Mechem (8-5).
Singles action was a blur as the Blue Devils cruised to victories at all six positions. Picking up victories was Kelly McCain, Johnson, Saras Arasu, Granson, Smith and DeRoo.
Duke will next take on UNLV on Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
