Duke safety Terrell Smith has been named the ACC's Defensive Back of the Week after helping the Blue Devils to a 43-17 victory over Navy this past Saturday in Annapolis, Md.
Smith, a 5-11, 175-pound junior safety from Wingate, N.C., recorded a team-high 11 tackles and recovered a pair of fumbles as Duke held the Midshipmen to 65 rushing yards below their average. His two fumble recoveries led to 14 Duke points. For the season, Smith ranks second on the Duke team in tackles with 47 and has two interceptions.
Other league award winners were Virginia's Matt Schaub (Offensive Back), Georgia Tech's Kyle Wallace (Offensive Lineman), Florida State's Alonzo Jackson (Defensive Lineman.), N.C. State's Lamont Reid (Specialist) and Georgia Tech's Ajenavi Eziemefe (Rookie).
