The Duke University women's lacrosse team, 7-6 overall, takes on James Madison (8-9) on Wednesday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m. The Blue Devils are coming off 12-8 loss to North Carolina in the opening round of the ACC Tournament.
Lauren Gallagher (West Chester, Pa.) leads the Duke offensive attack with 27 goals, 10 assists and 37 points, while senior Kelly Dirks (Annapolis, Md.) has contributed 26 goals and nine assists. Jessica Bennett (Gladstone, N.J.), 14 goals and five assists, and Meghan Miller (Severna Park, Md.), 12 goals and five assists, provide depth and balance to the attack.
Miller also has 33 ground balls and a team-high 24 draw controls. Senior Claire Sullivan (Washington, D.C.) continues her solid play with eight goals, two assists, 35 ground balls and 21 draw controls.
Senior Kristen Foster (Ellicott City, Md.), a Tewaaranton candidate, is allowing 9.00 goals per game in net for the Blue Devils. She has 112 saves in 723 minutes of action.
James Madison is coming off a 17-13 loss to Old Dominion in the Colonial Athletic Conference Tournament. Lisa Staedt (53 goals, 22 assists), Gail Decker (38 goals, nine assists) and Kristen Dinisio (33 goals, five assists) pace the JMU offense, while goalkeeper Amy Altig has accumulated 145 saves this season.
Duke travels to Dartmouth on Friday, April 26 for a 7:00 p.m. contest before wrapping up the regular season at home on Saturday, May 4 versus Pennsylvania.
