Duke's Ronnie Elliott and Brian Greene have been named to the 2002 ACC All-Freshman Team by The Sporting News. Virginia's Darryl Blackstock was named the league's defensive freshman of the year while N.C. State's T.A. McLendon earned offensive freshman of the year honors.
Elliott, a true freshman wide receiver from Huntsville, Ala., caught nine passes for 76 yards on the season while rushing four times for an additional 67 yards. In addition, he led Duke in kickoff return yards with 294.
Greene, a redshirt freshman cornerback from Kennesaw, Ga., started seven games in the Blue Devil secondary in 2002 and finished the year with 44 tackles, three tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one interception.
