Duke Trio Tabbed To USILA Scholar All-America Team

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke's Scott Bross, Chris Hartofilis and Stuart Schwartz have been named to the 2001 USILA Scholar All-America Team.

Thirty-one student-athletes from Divisions I, II, and III will be honored at the annual Lacrosse All-America dinner June 8, at 7 p.m., in Albany.

The USILA Scholar All-America team recognizes student-athletes who have excelled academically, athletically, and as citizens in their respective communities. Athletes named to this team are seniors who meet the following criteria: a cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and a member of an All-America team or one of the North-South teams. All nominees must be of strong character and have conducted themselves on and off the field in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to the sport of collegiate lacrosse.

The 2001 USILA Scholar All-America committee includes: Mike Hanna, director of athletics, Hobart College (chairman), Bill Tierney, head coach, Princeton University, James Stagnitta, head coach, Washington & Lee University, Bryan Matthews, director of athletics, Washington College, and John Spring, executive director, USILA.

Mike Adams, Defenseman - Notre Dame
Adams is an honorable mention All-American defenseman from the University of Notre Dame. He's an accounting major.

Mark Brier, Defenseman - Salisbury State
Breier is a second-team All-American defenseman from Salisbury State University. He's a member of the South All-Star Team. Breier has a double major in management information systems and marketing.

Scott Bross, Midfielder - Duke
Bross is an honorable mention All-American midfielder from Duke University. He has a double major in economics and sociology.

Michael Brzezinski, Defenseman - C.W. Post
Brzezinski is a second-team All-American defenseman from C.W. Post. He's a member of the North All-Star Team. Brzezinski is a biology major.

Andrew DeHass, Defenseman - St. Lawrence
DeHass is an honorable mention All-American defenseman from St. Lawrence University. He's a member of the North All-Star Team. DeHass is majoring in government studies.

Alex Ellis, Attackman - Bowdoin
Ellis is an honorable mention All-American attackman from Bowdoin College. He's a member of the North All-Star Team. Ellis is majoring in government studies.

Pope Hackney, Midfielder - Washington & Lee
Hackney is a first-team All-American midfielder from Washington & Lee University. He's a member of the South All-Star Team. Hackney is an economics major.

Chris Hartofilis, Midfielder - Duke
Hartofilis is an honorable mention All-American midfielder from Duke University. He is majoring in economics.

Wes Hays, Goalie - Washignton & Lee
Hays is a third-team All-American goalie from Washington & Lee University. He's a member of the South All-Star Team. Hays is an economics major.

John Horrigan, Goalie - Towson
Horrigan is an honorable mention All-American goalie from Towson University. He is majoring in business administration.

Kirk Howell, Goalie - Notre Dame
Howell is a second-team All-American goalie from the University of Notre Dame. He's a government studies major.

Pete Iwancio, Defenseman - Washington & Lee
Iwancio is a first-team All-American defenseman from Washington & Lee University. He is an accounting major.

Mark Juelis, Midfielder - Bucknell
Juelis is a midfielder from Bucknell University and a member of the South All-Star Team. He's a political science major.

David Kahn, Goalie - Franklin & Marshall
Kahn is an honorable mention All-American goalie from Franklin & Marshall College. He's a double major in American studies and government studies.

David Key, Midfielder - Cornell
Key is a midfielder on the North All-Star Team from Cornell University. He's a business major.

Mike Law, Midfielder - Denver
Law is an honorable mention All-American midfielder from the University of Denver. He's a member of the North All-Star Team. Law has a double major in finance and marketing.

Lucas Little, Defenseman - Mercyhurst
Little is a first-team All-American defenseman from Mercyhurst College. He's a sports medicine major.

Sean McCauley, Midfielder - Marymount
McCauley is a midfielder from Marymount University who is a member of the South All-Star Team. He's a computer science major.

Ryan Mollett, Defenseman - Princeton

Tom Terzulli, Attackman - RPI
Terzulli is a second-team All-American attackman from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He's a member of the North All-Star Team. Terzulli is an industrial management engineering major.

Trevor Tierney, Goalie - Princeton
Tierney is a first-team All-American goalie from Princeton University. He's a member of the North All-Star Team. Tierney is a psychology major.
