Durnan and Chris Hartofilis each scored two goals for Duke.
Bross Honored By ACC
Duke’s Scott Bross was named the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week on April 16 for his contribution to the Blue Devils’ 10-9 win over Virginia ... Bross, a senior midfielder from Ellicott City, Md., won 13-of-19 face-offs against the Cavaliers and was credited with four ground balls ... In addition, his goal — the first of his career in 52 games — at the 5:13 mark of the fourth quarter came directy off a face-off and gave Duke a 9-8 lead.
Patchak Up The Charts
With 31 points on the season, Greg Patchak has moved into 17th place on Duke’s all-time scoring chart with 137 career points ... The Timonium, Md., native has career totals of 89 goals and 48 points, needing just 11 goals to become the 11th player in Duke lacrosse history to reach the 100-goal plateau.
Lieske Finds Consistency In Scoring Column
Junior Alex Lieske is the lone Blue Devil to have scored in all 12 games this season ... The Timonium, Md., native leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists ... He posted five-point outings against both Sacred Heart and Brown.
Bross Heating Up On Face-Offs
Over the last three games, senior Scott Bross has won 34-of-45 (.756) face-offs to push his season percentage to .686 (120-of-175).

The eighth-ranked Terrapins used a strong defense and received five goals from Andrew Combs to post a 13-5 win over seventh-ranked Duke in College Park, Md. ... Combs scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game as Maryland bolted to a 7-1 halftime lead ... Kevin Brennan scored two goals for the Blue Devils while Alex Lieske and Chris Hartofilis each had two assists.

Chris Hartofilis scored three goals and added one assist as 10th-ranked Duke downed 12th-ranked North Carolina, 11-8, in Chapel Hill, N.C. ... The win for the Blue Devils marked their eighth in the last 10 meetings with the Tar Heels ... After Duke took a 7-2 lead, North Carolina scored five unanswered goals to knot the game early in the third period ... Kevin Brennan’s goal with 7:56 to play in the third quarter gave the Blue Devils the lead for good as the Duke defense held the Tar Heels to just one goal over the contest’s final 27 minutes ... Brennan, Kevin Cassese and Greg Patchak each scored two goals for the Blue Devils, while the Tar Heels received two goals from both Steven Will and Jeff Sonke.

Mack Hardaker’s goal with 12 seconds remaining lifted 15th-ranked Duke past ninth-ranked Virginia, 10-9, as 1,692 fans looked on at Koskinen Stadium ... With 7:37 left to play, Kevin Brennan gave Duke its first lead of the game with an unassisted goal, but Chris Rotelli tied the game less than three minutes later ... On the ensuing face-off, Duke’s Scott Bross controlled the possession and raced to goal, netting the first goal of his career to push the Blue Devils back on top, 9-8 ... Rotelli would again tie the game, with his final goal of the day coming at the 3:02 mark on an assist from Conor Gill, thus setting the stage for Hardaker’s game-winner ... Brennan paced the Duke attack with four goals and two assists while Rotelli had four goals for the Cavaliers.
Brennan Has Career Day Versus Cavaliers
Sophomore Kevin Brennan proved to be more than instrumental in Duke’s 10-9 win over Virginia last Saturday in Durham ... The Farmingdale, N.Y., product tallied a career-best six points on four goals and two assists, and fed teammate Mack Hardaker for the game-winning score with just 12 seconds remaining in the fourth period ... In Duke’s six games against ranked opponents (Maryland, Loyola, Brown, North Carolina, Georgetown and Virginia), Brennan has totalled 10 goals and eight assists and is the only Blue Devil to amass two or more points in each of those games ... Here is a breakdown of Brennan’s performances against Duke’s ranked opponents: Maryland 2-0-2; Loyola 1-3-4; Brown 0-2-2; North Carolina 2-0-2; Georgetown 1-1-2; Virginia 4-2-6 ... Brennan ranks third on the team in scoring with 27 points on 18 goals and nine assists.

Head Coach Mike Pressler
Now in his 11th season atop the Duke men’s lacrosse program, Mike Pressler holds career records of 106-53 with the Blue Devils and 182-73 in 17-plus overall seasons ... The 1995 ACC Coach of the Year, Pressler is an assistant coach for the Team USA squad which will play in the 2002 Lacrosse World Championships in Perth, Australia ... Presler guided Duke to the 1995 ACC Championship, a berth in the NCAA Final Four in 1997 and to a school-record 13 wins in 1999 ... He has led the Blue Devils to double figure win totals in six of the past seven seasons ... Carlyle Cup
The Duke-North Carolina rivalry was taken to another level prior to the 2000-01 academic year with the emergence of the Carlyle Cup competition ... Duke currently leads the competition, 20-17, entering the weekend ... Carlyle & Company, with 38 stores across the country including 12 in North Carolina, has agreed to support the competition for at least three years ... The annual winner will retain and prominently display the Carlyle Cup each year.
