Duke First Among Top 25 Sears Cup Schools in Graduation Rate

Duke University ranked first in graduating its student-athletes (91 percent) among schools that finished in the top 25 in the 1999-2000 Sears Directors' Cup standings. Duke had a 91 percent graduation rate, topping Notre Dame (88 percent) and Stanford (87 percent).

Duke placed 24th in the Sears Directors' Cup this year. It was the fifth-best finish by a private school and the third-best among Atlantic Coast Conference institutions. The Sears Directors' Cup, released by NACDA (National Association of College Directors of Athletics), issues points that are awarded based on each school's finish in up to 20 sports 10 for men and 10 for women.
