In addition to shooting 52 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line, Sweet averaged 3.0 blocked shots and 3.0 assists as a senior. He appeared in several high school all-star games, including the Capital Classic and Bob Gibbons All-Star Game.
A first team All-City selection in 2000, Sweet played for coach Maurice Hicks at Brother Rice High School. He helped lead Brother Rice to city and state championships in 1998 and 1999. While at Brother Rice, Sweet played with Andre Barrett (Seton Hall), Kyle Cuffe (St. John's) and Kenny Satterfield (Cincinnati), who all signed national letters-of-intent with Division I colleges.
Sweet joins Chris Duhon, a guard from Slidell, La., as a Duke men's basketball signee. Duhon was named the Morgan Wootten Player of the Year, given annually to the nation's top high school basketball player.
