Tricia Martin (Huntington, N.Y.), Kate Kaiser (Cockeysville, Md.), and Shannon Chaney (Oklahoma City, Ok.) were each named to the All-ACC team, while Kimel was selected Co-Coach of the Year with Maryland's Cindy Timchal. The awards were voted on by the four ACC head coaches.
Martin, a senior attacker, was selected All-ACC for the third straight year and ranks third in the ACC with 2.58 goals per game. She leads Duke with 31 goals and 39 points on the season.
Kaiser, a sophomore midfielder, makes the list for the first time after being named ACC Rookie of the Year last season. She has tallied 31 goals and four assists for 35 points on the season.
Chaney, a senior goalkeeper, is the first Duke goalkeeper named to the All-ACC team after posting a 8.30 goals against average this season. She was selected ACC Player of the Week earlier this season after posting victories over North Carolina and William & Mary.
It marks the second time Kimel has received Coach of the Year honor as she was also selected in 1998. She has recorded 43-36 record in her five years at Duke, while winning 32 matches the past three years.
By having three players named to the All-ACC team it marks the first time ever Duke has received more than one player selected to the team.
Chaney and Claire Sullivan (Washington, D.C.) were each named to the ACC All-Tournament team. Chaney tallied eight saves in the loss.
The Blue Devils lost to North Carolina 7-6 in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament this past weekend. Duke will now host James Madison on Tuesday at 3:00 PM. It will be senior day at Koskinen Stadium for Martin, Chaney, Keri Dunn, Emily Hickman, and Katie Regan.
