Duke's own Beth Bauer (Cramerton, N.C.) wrapped up individual honors on Sunday as she shot a 74 to finish the tournament at six-under par (213). Bauer led the tournament from day one as she missed the tournament record by only five strokes. On Friday she fired a tournament and course record 67 in round one.
The No. 2 ranked Blue Devils won with a three-day total of 875 (291-282-302, -1), while Louisiana State finished second (297-294-301=892, +16), Georgia third (300-301-298=899, +23), Wake Forest fourth (301-302-302=905, +29), and Auburn rounded out the top five (299-302-308=909, +33).
Freshman Maria Garcia-Estrada (Tenerise, Spain) continued her stellar play with a collegiate best third place finish (219, -2), while Kalen Anderson (Edina, Minn.) also finished in the top 10 only three-over par (222). Freshman Kristina Engstrom (Djursholm, Sweden) followed up two under par rounds with an 81 on Sunday to fall to the tied for ninth spot (224, +5) and Amie Lehman (Pittsford, N.Y.) finished in tied for 65th with a 242 .
Sophomore Candy Hannemann played as an individual this weekend as she finished in tied for 48th (236, +17). The University of Georgia Golf Club is a par 73 and is 5,994 yards. Duke will now get ready for the ACC Championships on April 14-16 in Clemmons, N.C. Duke has won the past four ACC Championships in a row.
