Each recipient will receive $5,000 to use towards their graduate education. Each student-athlete has performed with distinction both in the classroom and in their respective sports, and demonstrated exemplary conduct in the community.
The awards are named in honor of the ACC's first three commissioners, the late Jim Weaver and Bob James as well as Gene Corrigan.
Lenhardt, who was a three-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist and 1997 finalist, set several school records during his four-year career. He finished as the Blue Devils' all-time leading scorer (240 points), a figure which ranks 16th all-time in the ACC.
The three-time All-ACC selection holds the Duke record and ranks eighth on the ACC career field goals list with 55. He also has a school record 19 field goals 45 yards or longer and set a new ACC record in 1998 with four field goals of 50 yards or longer.
Lenhardt has also garnered academic accolades, becoming just the fifth player in school history to be named to the ACC All-Academic team three times. He was a 1999 GTE Academic All-District selection and has been named to the ACC Honor Roll three times.
The 16 recipients of the Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Awards will be honored Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in Greensboro, N.C. at a luncheon hosted by the Nat Greene Kiwanis Club.
