TUSCON, ARIZ. - The host University of Arizona women's golf team rebounded from a first round 290 to post a 277 on Tuesday in the second round of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational to take a seven-shot lead going into the final round on Wednesday.
Duke (ranked No. 1 in the Sagarin/No. 2 in MasterCard Collegeiate rankings) dropped back to fourth place after the second round of competition shooting a 288 and now are 10 shots off the lead (577) behind Arizona (567), Arizona State and Stanford (574).
Sophomore Beth Bauer continues to lead the individual play with a six-under par 138 after two rounds. Bauer shot a one-under par 71 on Tuesday after recording a 67 in the first round of play. She leads by one stroke over Arizona's Christina Monteiro.
Other Duke finishers are freshman Maria-Garcia Estrada, who is in tied for ninth place with a 143 (one-under par), Kalen Anderson and Amie Lehman are tied for 29th at 148 (+4), and Candy Hannemann is in 88th place with a 160.
The final round will get under way on Wednesday morning at the Randolph Park Golf Club.
