Franks Announces Changes Within Coaching Staff

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke head football coach Carl Franks announced the
dismissal of tight ends coach Joe DeLamielleure from the Blue Devil staff on
Tuesday, December 5. In addition, Franks announced that Doug Knotts, the Blue Devil
football program's administrative assistant since 1994, has been reassigned
and named an administrative assistant to Duke's football campaign.
DeLamielleure departs the Blue Devil staff after five seasons as an assistant coach. A former All-America at Michigan State, he spent 13 years in the National Football League playing with the Buffalo Bills (1973-79; 1985) and Cleveland Browns (1980-84). Prior to his stint with Duke, DeLamielleure served as an assistant coach during the 1994 and 1995 seasons at Liberty University.
Knotts, who lettered three seasons in football at Duke from 1953-55 before graduating in 1956, rejoined the staff in 1994 as the administrative assistant. He previously served as an assistant coach with the Blue Devils under Bill Murray from 1958-64, and was an assistant coach at Tennessee (1965-69) and Florida (1970-78).
