Dude Dudehoff asks: How did you get to be so big and strong?
Answer: When I first got to Duke, I was undersized. With the help of the older players and Coach Falcone, I was able to gain size and strength. The training table here at Duke also helped.
T. E. Long asks: How do you manage to keep your spirits up in the midst of the current football season?
Answer: I try to stay dedicated to the program and to our team goals. We have to tune out the outside influences and focus on the task at hand, which is winning the next four games on our schedule.
James Aitken asks: What is the biggest motivational factor for your sucess here at Duke?
Answer: The biggest factor for me has been my inner-drive to succeed as both a football player and student. Older offensive linemen who have played at Duke also have had a great impact on my desire to succeed.
Matt Williams asks: Troy, do you feel that Duke football players receive the special treatment they deserve from professors?
Answer: I don't think we get any special treatment from our professors, nor to we deserve any. We are students first because we came to Duke to receive the highest quality education and play top-notch football.
Sally Michiaels asks: Hi Troy, my son wants to play football when he grows up. What can he do at age 10 to be a better player? He plays center. thanks and good luck this year!
Answer: First of all, the most important thing to remember is to have fun. After that, I would suggest that all kids play as many different sports as possible. This will help his or her overall athletic ability in the long run.
Billy Bradley asks: Hi Troy, what is your most memorable game? The win at Virginia is probably up there?
Answer: My most memorable game would be our Parents' Day win over Clemson during the 1998 season. It was a great win because our offense produced 28 points and our defense did an outstanding job against Clemson's offense. Other games would be the overtime win at Virginia last year, as well as the victories over Wake Forest in both 1998 and 1999.
James Aitken asks: What do u consider the most important quality to have to be a sucessful center?
Answer: A good understanding of the offense is very key. Also, a little bit of nastiness helps when battling with opposing defensive linemen.
Margaret Andrew asks: Are you getting enough to eat? Love, Mom
Answer: Yes Mom, I am eating plenty. I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
John Moses asks: Troy, do you think the program can rebound the rest of the way? If so, why? thanks
Answer: Yes, we most certainly can. The next four games will be good matchups as far as personnel. I think we'll play with a lot more emotion, especially in the last three against the in-state rivals. These are the last four games for all of the seniors, and so we will give it our all.
Amy Simon asks: Hi Troy! what is the most gratifying thing about being a Dukie! thanks, Amy
Answer: The biggest reward for being here at Duke is knowing that I am playing with and going to class with the leaders of the future for our country.
jared smith asks: Dear Troy, I had spent some time at Duke University and received a degree from the institute. I am curious, how are you planning to apply your major (sociology) to your future professional career? Just kidding Troy, Good Luck this weekend. Let's get a win!!! Your friend, Jared Smith
Answer: I am planning on a career in law enforcement, and my sociology degree will help me understand society better. My academic career here has covered many different areas, and that will also benefit my future goals as a law enforcement officer.
Darryll Cooner asks: Troy, I know this year has been a pretty big dissappointment, do you think a win over Carolina would make the season a little less heartbreaking?
Answer: The Carolina game is so big, that it can make or break a season. I look forward to that game because of the great rivalry we have. Right now, we are focusing on Maryland and hope to get a win on Saturday.
Adam Barkowski asks: Troy, have pro scouts been around to see you guys? Who are they looking at to go the next level in addition to yourself?
Answer: I try not to focus on the pro scouts at our practices and games. My attention is totally on our team right now, but I think that we have several players that could play after college. Thanks to everyone who took time to email questions to me. I hope to see everyone at the game this Saturday. Beat Maryland!
