Biography
One of the new faces in the Duke football program is Aubrey Hill, a
former player and coach in the ultra-successful University of Florida
football program. He'll bring his expertise to the Duke sidelines in
coaching the team's receivers in 1999.
A native of Miami, Fla., Hill has been a graduate assistant coach at Florida for the past three years. Included in that stint was his first year (1996) when the Gators captured the national championship with a 12-1 record and a 52-20 victory over Florida State in the Sugar Bowl.
In his first full-time coaching position, Hill (27) will be excellent in developing Duke's standout unit into one of the nation's top catching threats. All-ACC candidates Scottie Montgomery and Richmond Flowers highlight the corps which will see plenty of action with the advent of Duke's highly-anticipated high-octane offense.
Hill is familiar with Duke's offense as a receiver for the Gators from 1991-94. He grabbed 86 career receptions and 18 touchdowns. His TD ratio of one in every 4.78 catches is still third in Florida history. He was a team captain in 1994 when Florida recorded a 10-2-1 record and captured the SEC championship. He was on four SEC championship teams.
Hill was considered a go-to guy as 64 of his 86 catches resulted in a first down. After graduation he signed a free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise & Sport Sciences with an emphasis in Sports Administration in 1996. He completed a Master's degree from Florida in Leisure/Sports Management in 1998.
Aubrey is single and resides in Durham.
