The Blue Devils have been well-represented in the Blue/Gray Classic over the years, but five representatives is the most from Duke in a single year. The only other time Duke had three players competing was in 1997, with Chike Egbuniwe, Patrick Mannelly and Tawambi Settles earning a spot on the roster. Franks marks the sixth head coach in Duke history to serve as a coach for the Classic, following Bill Murray (1958), Tom Harp (1968), Mike McGee (1974), Steve Spurrier (1987) and Fred Goldsmith (1995).
Dupree, from Seffner, Fla., finished his career with 35 receptions for 414 yards and a touchdown. Montgomery, from Cherryville, N.C., rewrote the Duke record book, finishing second in career receptions, second in all-purpose yardage, third in career receiving yardage and third in kickoff return yards. Lenhardt, who hails from Charleston, S.C., is Duke's all-time leading scorer with 240 points and set numerous field goal and PAT records at both Duke and the ACC. Both Montgomery and Lenhardt were second-team All-ACC selections in 1999.
The Blue Devils, who posted a 3-8 record in 1999 in Franks' first season as head coach, open up the 2000 campaign on Sept. 2, hosting East Carolina.
