Lake Wheeler Park

Rowing

Lake Wheeler Park serves as the primary venue for Duke Rowing’s training and regattas. Featuring a fully buoyed 2,000-meter course designed to NCAA and international standards, it provides calm, consistent waters ideal for high-level competition. Located approximately 20 minutes from Duke’s campus, the park regularly hosts intercollegiate events, including the annual Lake Wheeler Invitational co-hosted by Duke and UNC, drawing top teams from across the country. Enhanced infrastructure includes spectator viewing areas along the shoreline, ADA-accessible docks and seating, accessible parking with shuttle service, and performance facilities suitable for both athletes and fans. As a premier rowing site, Lake Wheeler Park plays an essential role in supporting Duke’s rowing program and its competitive ambitions.
