Megan Goforth joined Duke Athletics in November 2024 and serves as the Director of Educational Services. In her role, she provides specialized academic support for student-athletes, develops individualized learning strategies and collaborates with academic coordinators and support staff to promote academic and personal success. Goforth oversees the department's tutor and mentor program, including the recruitment, training and supervision of educational support personnel, while also coordinating educational screenings and testing for student-athletes who may benefit from additional academic resources.
Prior to joining Duke, Goforth served as an Athletics Learning Specialist at George Mason from June 2017. There, she managed the academic success of student-athletes in Division I basketball and served as the academic coordinator for the cheer and dance programs. Her responsibilities included academic support, intervention strategies and service on committees focused on diversity, inclusion and student welfare.
Goforth earned a Master of Arts in Education and Behavioral Science from Western Kentucky in May 2017. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from George Mason, completed in August 2015, and earned an Ed.D. in Higher Education with a concentration in Academic Support Programs from Sam Houston State.
