Kaitlyn Underwood, MS, LAT, ATC is an Athletic Training Fellow with Duke Athletics, where she provides medical coverage for the football program.
Underwood earned both her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science (2024) and her Master of Science in Athletic Training (2026) from James Madison University. During her graduate education, she developed a strong foundation in evidence-based athletic healthcare while serving in a variety of clinical and leadership roles.
Underwood is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), and an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). She served as an Athletic Training Ambassador for the James Madison University Master of Science in Athletic Training program and was an active member of the Master of Athletic Training Student Association. Her capstone research, Using Force-sensing Insoles to Assess Gait and Jump Landing Biomechanics in Young Adults With and Without ACL Reconstruction, focused on movement analysis following ACL injury. She is also the recipient of the Aimee Gunnoe Award and participated in the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association Quiz Bowl in both 2025 and 2026.
