Colleen Gunning joined the Duke Athletics staff in October 2022 as a Communications Staff Assistant and was elevated to Assistant Director of Communications in 2025. She currently serves as the primary media contact for softball and rowing and is the secondary contact for football.
Before arriving at Duke, Gunning worked in the athletics department at Durham Academy from 2019 to 2022, where she supported scheduling, transportation, and administrative tasks while managing social media and serving as a liaison for visiting teams, officials and spectators.
A native of Lynbrook, N.Y., Gunning graduated from NC State in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. Her previous experience includes roles with Flywheel Sports as a studio coordinator and social media marketing manager, the Long Island Rough Riders as a digital marketing and operations intern, and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series as an event coordinator.
