Calvin Koo joined the Duke women’s basketball staff as a creative content producer in August of 2022.
In addition to handling and helping drive the content strategy for Duke women’s basketball, Koo is also responsible for creating engaging visual media for the ‘DukeWBB’ brand.
Koo arrives in Durham after working as a content creator and social media strategist at Ashley Corral Performance Training in Vancouver, Wash., where he was tasked with capturing highlights from training clinics and personal sessions assist with the implementation of the organization’s social media and marketing strategy. Some of Koo’s notable accomplishments while working at Ashley Corral were growing the brand’s following from 1,000 to roughly 20,000 people, reaching 86,000 followers on TikTok and assisting with redesigning the brand’s website.
Koo served as a film and photography specialist with SLAM Magazine and BallisLife Projects from 2019-2022. There, he captured photos that appeared on SLAM’s Instagram page, helped to showcase moments from NCAA men’s and women’s basketball games as well as WNBA games for various sports media outlets, the latter two helping to increase the familiarity with the culture of women’s basketball.
Koo has also worked as a freelance creative content specialist since 2019, capturing content for various groups including Upper Left Legion (AAU), Elite Is Earned (nationwide basketball camp), Westside Christian High School and the Feed the Soul clothing brand.
A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Koo obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Portland State University in 2019.
