Alfreda Hagans joined the Duke Athletics staff in December of 2023 and serves as Assistant Director of Compliance.
In her current role, Hagans works in all areas of the compliance department, with a focus on educational efforts, overseeing all NCAA bylaws for her assigned sports of track & field, cross country, women's soccer, women's lacrosse, rowing and field hockey, research and reporting in the NCAA’s online databases, and monitoring activities involving the institution’s recruiting and compliance technology software.
A native of Pinetops, North Carolina, Hagans graduated from Campbell University in 2016 with a degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting. She then went on to earn her Master of Education in Sports Leadership degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. She was a former track and cross country student-athlete and loves spending time with her fiancé, Luis, their two dogs, Laila and Gunther, and cat, Gaylord.
