Stephen P. Ward joined the Blue Devils Women’s Tennis team as the volunteer assistant coach in November of 2021. Ward returns to the ACC after a successful four year stint as the assistant Men's Tennis coach for the N.C. State Wolfpack from 2008-2012.
In addition to his background in college coaching, Ward serves as the Head of Development at Hope Valley Country Club where he has been a teaching professional since 2015. He is also the Head Varsity Girls coach at Durham Academy. During his two years leading the Cavaliers, DA went 16-1 in the TISAC and finished 4th in the class 4A NC State Championship Tournament in 2020, followed up by a 3rd place finish in 2021.
Ward received his BBA in finance from The College of William and Mary where he finished top 5 all-time in singles victories and top 10 in doubles. Upon graduation, Ward won 11 titles on the French Federation of Tennis (FFT) circuit, and represented La Baule (FR) in Club play. Ward received his M.B.A from Fordham University in NYC.
